Smoking and Vaping at Youth Sports Facilities in Ontario
Ontario's Smoke-Free Ontario Act (SFOA) along with The City of Sault Ste Marie’s By-Law’s prohibits smoking and vaping tobacco, cannabis, and e-cigarettes on publicly owned sporting areas, their fan/viewing areas, playgrounds, and within 20 metres of these spaces. These restrictions apply whether a game or practice is taking place or not.
These regulations are designed to protect children, athletes, families, and spectators from second-hand smoke and vapour while promoting healthy, safe recreational environments.
Individuals who smoke or vape in prohibited areas may be subject to fines under provincial or municipal laws.
