Soo Black Sox DS 13U Bring Home Silver in North Bay Tournament

Friday Night Game 1: Soo Black Sox DS 13U 15 – North Bay Panthers 13U 4

The Soo Black Sox DS 13U opened the tournament with a dominant 15-4 win over North Bay. Max P and Chance C sparked the offence early with doubles, while Connor R helped set the tone by reaching base and scoring. Cole S, Oliver C, and JP B drove in runs during a big second inning, and Connor R, Silas J, and Cole S kept the offence rolling in the third. On the mound, Chance C was outstanding, striking out six over three scoreless innings before JP B finished the game in relief. At the plate, JP B led the way with two hits and three RBIs, while Silas J and Owen E also collected two hits each. Max P, Connor R, Owen E, Lucas S, Cole S, and Silas J were aggressive on the bases as the Black Sox piled up 16 stolen bases. Defensively, Lucas S handled a team-high nine chances as the Black Sox played an excellent game.

Saturday Game 2: Barrie Baycats 13U Select 7 – Soo Black Sox DS 13U 6

The Soo Black Sox battled back all game but came up just short in a 7-6 loss to the Barrie Baycats. Connor R gave the Black Sox an early lead with a two-run double, while Silas J added an RBI single in the first inning. Lucas S got the start on the mound and also contributed two hits at the plate. Silas J finished with two hits, while Connor R drove in two runs. Jason D showed patience at the plate with two walks and was active on the bases alongside Lucas S. The Black Sox continued to battle until the final out. Max P led the defence with six chances as. Soo kept the pressure on despite falling just one run short.

Saturday Game 3: Soo Black Sox DS 13U 7 – Orillia Royals 13U Select 5

The Soo Black Sox bounced back with a hard-fought 7-5 win over the Orillia Royals. After falling behind early, the Black Sox rallied, taking the lead for good in the fifth inning when Oliver C drove in the go-ahead run and Oliver T followed with an RBI single to add insurance. Oliver T also earned the win on the mound, striking out six over 4⅓ innings, before Asher C came on in relief to help secure the victory. At the plate, Max P led the offence with two hits, while Lucas S drove in two runs. Jason D and Silas J were aggressive on the bases as the Black Sox swiped 10 steals. Defensively, Max P handled a team-high seven chances as the Black Sox turned in another great game.

Sunday Game 4: Soo Black Sox DS 13U 8 – Sudbury Shamrocks DS 13U 2

The Soo Black Sox picked up another strong win, defeating the Sudbury Shamrocks 8-2 on Sunday. Chance C, Connor R, and Silas J helped the Black Sox jump out to an early lead in the first inning, while Connor R and Cole S added to the advantage in the third. Chance C was dominant on the mound, striking out eight over 3⅔ innings to earn the win. Asher C came on in relief to help close out the victory. At the plate, Max P collected two hits, while Connor R and Oliver T each drove in two runs. Jason D, Cole S, Chance C, and JP B each reached base multiple times with walks, while Jason D, Silas J, and JP B were aggressive on the bases as the Black Sox stole 12 bases. Defensively, Lucas S led the team with 10 chances.

Sunday Championship Game: Barrie Baycats 13U Select 14 – Soo Black Sox DS 13U 1

The Soo Black Sox battled hard in the championship game but fell to the Barrie Baycats, earning an impressive second-place finish at the tournament. Cole S got the start on the mound, while Connor R and Owen E each collected a hit. Owen E drove in the Black Sox's lone run, and Jason D was active on the bases with two stolen bases. Defensively, Lucas S led the team with three chances. Although the final didn't go their way, the Soo Black Sox put together a strong tournament, finishing as finalists and bringing home the silver medal.

The Black Sox should be proud of the way they competed all weekend, finishing the tournament with a well-earned second-place finish. Every player contributed through their hustle, teamwork, and determination, supporting one another in every game. From aggressive base running and solid defence to encouraging teammates and never giving up, the Black Sox represented their team and community with pride.
