Safety Base Installed on Superior Customs & Detailing Field

There is something new at SMBA this week.

Last week our grounds crew installed a safety base on the 9U Superior Customs & Detailing Field. This safety base is showing SMBA’s interest in providing a safe place for our families to play baseball.

This safety base is being used as a trial run to see if this type of safety feature for 7, 8 & 9 year old kids could even be imposed at the older age groups in our league. 

Rule change effective immediately;

The defensive player is to use the white portion of the safety base, while the offensive runners are to use the orange section of the safety base.

There will be no consequences for an offensive or defensive player stepping on the wrong section/color of the base.
