Great showing in Lasalle for the 11U Black Sox

Over the weekend, the 11U Black Sox travelled to Lasalle, Ontario to compete in the rep AA and under Jack McCart/Ralph Hall Classic. This was the first tournament the team participated in this season and are travelling back to the Sault as silver medalists.

They opened the tournament against the Leamington Lakers with strong pitching and catching efforts by Jax Palahnuk and Charlie Truman, with Theo Maguire behind the plate. It was a big first win as some great hits by Reid Boissoneau, Connor Rosbottom, and Reece Hunter drove in runs for the Sox, leading the Sox to a 6-4 victory.

On Saturday, the team was scheduled for three games and started the day off with a convincing win over the Brampton Royals AA team with a score of 16-2. Charlie Truman had three doubles at bat as the Sox collected 15 hits in the game. The second game saw the strong Lakeshore Whitecaps team take a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth, after Charlie Truman tripled in the first inning for the Sox. The Soo rallied back in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead after RBIs were hit by Thomas Hirvi and Landon Morley. Thomas Hirvi earned the win at the pitching mound. Entering the third game of the round robin at 3-0, the Lasalle Titans were also 3-0, both teams had solidified their place on the championship Sunday. The Titans took an early lead in the bottom of the second inning with 3 runs, and added 2 more runs in the third inning. The Soo was held to 5 hits to end the day andwere handed their first loss with a score of 11-0.

Entering the finals against the strong Lasalle Titans, the Soo knew they had to get on board early, and they did just that as Theo Maguire grounded out in the first, scoring one run. The Titans were able to score 3 runs in the bottom of the first to take back the lead. Strong pitching by each team left bases loaded for both teams in the third inning, with Reece Hunter striking out 4 batters for the day. Lincoln Rennison and Theo Maguire also contributed at the mound with strong arm behind the plate was Jax Palahnuk, the Sox would ultimately be shut down in the field by the Titans as they went on to win the tournament by a score of 11-1. Charlie Truman led the Black Sox with 9 hits over the weekend. They played hard in the heat all weekend and had some big wins that they hope to build upon as they host North Bay at home on July 12 & 13th and head to London for their next rep A tournament on July 18th

The coaches, players, and parents would like to thank all the sponsors for supporting this team this summer!! This is only the beginning for these young players.
