Aurora's 19U A Black Sox Lose in Extra Innings

Aurora’s 19U Black Sox lost to Negaunee Legon 3-2 in nine innings in the Championship Game of the EUP Wood Ducks Tournament on Sunday played at James Field. Both teams advanced to the championship after going 2-1 in preliminary play. With one out in the bottom of the ninth and the bases loaded Owen Cardinal singled up the middle with the infield drawn in for the walk off win.

Tye Turco started for the Black Sox and went six solid innings allowing but two hits, striking out seven,  allowing the two earned runs and walking three. Ryan Oliver took over in the seventh inning and took the loss for the Sox going 2 1/3 giving up the winning run while striking out one and walking one.

Offensively the Black Sox out hit Negaunee 7 – 6. Bryson Palahnuk paced the Black Sox with a double and a pair of singles. Thomas Keough contributed two hits including an RBI.

Jacob Scornaiencki earned the win going six innings surrendering four hits and two runs while striking out two and walking two. The Sox collected four triples in the game, Ty Cond, Tye Turco, Kolton Tremblay and Jakson Carroll. 

SATURDAY – GAME 2     NEGAUNEE 13   SOO BLACK SOX 3

Negaunee scored 4 runs in the top of the first inning off of the starter, Jakson Carroll, and rolled to a convincing 13-3 victory. Lucas Carriere had a two run single and Tye Turco added two singles.

SATURDAY – GAME 3     SOO BLACK SOX 8  GAYLORD BASEBALL CLUB 2

The Sox broke the game open scoring seven runs in the second inning. Kolton Tremblay earned the win giving one hit, striking out five and walking four over four innings. Ty Cond had a double and two singles, Tye Turco had two singles and three RBI’s and Ryan Oliver with a pair of singles paced an 11 hit attack.

With Sunday’s loss the Aurora’s 19U Black Sox record sits at 21-20. Next action for the Sox is Thursday when they host the EUP Wood Ducks in a DH at IDA Park starting at 4:00 PM.
