19U Rep A BLACK SOX GO 1 – 3 IN MARINETTE

The Aurora’s 19U Black Sox went 1 -3 at the Marinette Firecracker Tournament held over the weekend. The Black Sox lone victory came on Sunday when they defeated the Escanaba Cubs 3 – 1. Jacob Scornaiencki went the distance to pick up the win. The hurler scattered seven hits, allowed one run, struck out two and walked one. A sacrifice fly by Ty Cond in the bottom of the third gave the Sox a 2 – 1 lead. They would add one more run in the bottom of the sixth when Cond singled driving in another run . The Black Sox held on to make the final score 3 – 1. Ryan Oliver led the offence with a pair of singles. Tye Turco chipped in with a single while stealing two bases.

Game #1   Manitowac Ships 5  Soo Black Sox 3

The Sox jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead in the bottom of the second but couldn’t hold off Manitowac who scored single runs in the third and fourth innings and put up three runs in the sixth to make the final score 5 – 3. Manitowac went undefeated and captured the tournament championship. Logan Rohe took the loss in relief of the starter Ryan Oliver. Henry Currie and Tye Turco each had a single and one RBI for the Black Sox.

Game # 2  Kimberly 6  Soo Black Sox 2

Kimberly broke open a 2 – 2 game by scoring 4 runs in the sixth inning. Tye Turco took the loss going six innings giving up the six runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking one. Ty Cond and Ryan Oliver each drove in one run. J.A. Giallonardo stole two bases.

Game #3    S.W. Green Bay 16  Soo Black Sox 4

S.W. Green Bay scored 8 runs in the second inning and added 7 more in the sixth to hand the Sox a 16 – 4 loss. Jakson Carroll took the loss while catcher Aaron Keough led the offence with two hits and one RBI while Henry Currie added a single and 2 RBI’s.

 

The Aurora’s 19U Black Sox’s record now sits at 17 – 18. Next action is Wednesday, July 1 when they host the Gaylord Baseball Club at IDA Park in SABL play. First pitch for game one of the double heater is set for 4:00 PM.
