19U BLACK SOX WIN SABL PENNANT

GAYLORD, MI

Aurora’s 19U Black Sox wrapped up their SABL season with a home and home series with the Gaylord Baseball Club. The Sox needed to win three out of the four games in order to over take the GBC for first place. The Black Sox swept the four games to capture the pennant for the second consecutive year.

The series opened on Saturday at IDA Park in the Sault. Game one saw the Sox secure a 6-2 victory. Tye Turco picked up the win pitching a complete game allowing 6 hits, striking out four while walking two. Ty Cond paced the offence with a double, single and two runs batted in. Game two saw the Black Sox sweep the DH winning by a score of 5-3. Kolton Tremblay in his final game as a member of the 19U Sox went the distance striking out 10 batters, surrendering but one hit while walking three. Jacob Scornaiencki had a pair of singles, Lucas Diberardino and J.A. Giallonardo each batted in two runs.

Sunday in Gaylord the Sox needed a split to secure the pennant. They went one better and took both games from the GBC. Game one saw them come away with a 5-3 victory. Jacob Scornaiencki was the winning pitcher giving six hits, striking five and walking two. Chase Cerasuolo had a pair of singles and Bryson Palahnuk had two RBI’s in the win. Game two was a slugfest with the Sox coming out on top with a 12-11 victory. Jakson Carroll went three innings to pick up the victory. Ty Cond followed on the mound and Logan Rohe picked up the save by pitching the final inning.

The Sox now an overall record of 31-23. They will be in Clarington this weekend to participate in the 18U Rep A Provincial Tournament.
