18U Rep A Black Sox Sweep Panthers

Fresh off winning the Rudyard Invitational Tournament, on Monday the Aurora’s 18U Rep A Black Sox defeated the Pickford Panthers in both games of a doubleheader by scores of 6-3 and 15-7. The highly touted Panthers entered the games with a record of 14-4-1.

Game 1 saw the Black Sox fall behind 2-0 after the first inning. The game was tied 3-3 after 4 innings. The Sox scored three times in the top of the fifth with Tye Turco doubling in one run and Jakson Carroll doubling in two more for the 6-3 lead that turned out to be the final score.

Tye Turco picked up the win, going the distance giving up six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out six and walking one. Offensively Turco led the way with a double, two singles and one RBI. Jakson Carroll added a single, a double and 2 RBI’s.

In the night cap the Sox jumped out to a six run lead after one inning and cruised the rest of the way to the 15-7 victory. Logan Rohe earned the win allowing two hits, striking out one and walking one over two innings. Chase Cerasulo and Thomas Keough each pitched two innings in relief to secure the victory. Ty Cond paced the offence with a double and two singles while Owen Nott added two singles and a run batted in.

With the DH sweep the 18U Rep A Black Sox record improves to 8-4. Next up for the Sox is a doubleheader on Thursday in Rudyard versus the Rudyard Bulldogs (14-11-1).
