IDA PARK

Monday night at IDA Park saw Guzzo Electrical 18U Black Sox win both ends of a doubleheader vs the EUP Wood Ducks  in dramatic fashion with walk off wins not once but TWICE.  Game One saw the Black Sox walk it off in 8 innings with a 2-1 victory. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th inning, Thomas Keough came through with a big two out single scoring Kolton Tremblay to tie the game. The game was still tied after 7 innings resulting in using the international tie breaker for the 8th inning which is putting the last out from the previous inning at second base. EUP failed to score in the top half. In the bottom half Kolton Tremblay was the runner at second base. Lucas Carriere sacrificed him to 3rd. Thomas Keough drew a walk and Lucas Diberardino was intentionally walked to load the bases. With Zack Allard at the plate, Tremblay scored on a wild pitch for the walk off win. Ty Turco earned the win in relief of Kolton Tremblay who struck 10 batters in four innings. Turco gave up zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out two and two.

Game two saw EUP jump out to a 5-3 lead after three innings. The game remained that way until the bottom of the 7th when Ryan Oliver led off with a walk, Turco singled with one out and with two out Kolton Tremblay hit a pitch to deep left centre scoring both runners to tie the game. Tremblay was trying to stretch his hit into a triple when thethrow from the centrefielder went wide of the 3rd baseman and into the Black Sox dugout allowing Tremblay to score the walk off win – AGAIN. Ryan Oliver picked up the win in relief of the starter, Hunter Thorkilson. Oliver surrendered two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking none.
