18U Black Sox Fall in Championship Game

GLADWIN, MI

The Guzzo Electrical 18U Black Sox lost 10 – 1 to the Marquette White Diamonds in the Championship game of the Bernard Barnes Memorial Invitational Tournament on Sunday in Gladwin Michigan. Marquette got on the board first with a 3 run third inning and broke the game wide open when they scored 5 runs in the sixth inning. Kolton Tremblay took the loss for the Black Sox, giving up 6 hits, walking 5 and striking out 6 in 4 innings. Offensively the Sox could only manage 3 hits, a double by Tremblay, an RBI single from Ty Turco and a single by Thomas Keough. The Black Sox entered the Championship game with a perfect 4 – 0 record having beaten the White Diamonds 8 – 3 in round robin play on Friday.

Kolton Tremblay was the offensive catalyst for the Sox going 9 for 14 which included 2 home runs, one of which was a grand slam, and 7 RBI’s.
