16U Mid Season Tournament!

Friday July 10th was the start of our 16U Mid Season Tournament!

Game 1 – Tigers 7 VS Yankees 14

The Team Essentials Tigers came out swinging with three runs in the opening inning and battled back again in the third to erase an early deficit and tie the game at 6-6. The Team Essentials Yankees answered every challenge, using timely hitting and patient at-bats to put together big offensive innings in the second, third, and especially the fourth, where they broke the game open with a flurry of walks, extra-base hits, and run-scoring singles. The Team Essentials Tigers added one more run in the fifth, but the Team Essentials Yankees closed the door with strong defense and pitching to secure a convincing 14-7 victory after an action-packed contest filled with momentum swings and plenty of offense.

Game 2 – Blue Jays 14 VS Phillies 12

The Team Essentials Phillies rallied from an early deficit in an exciting back-and-forth battle, using a huge third inning and another five-run surge in the fifth to put constant pressure on the Team Essentials Blue Jays. The Team Essentials Blue Jays answered with explosive offense of their own, capitalizing on aggressive baserunning, patient at-bats, and timely hits to erase deficits and reclaim the lead. With both teams trading big innings and momentum throughout the game, the Team Essentials Blue Jays held off the late comeback attempt to earn a thrilling 14-12 victory.

Saturday we returned to the ballpark for some more exciting action!

Game 3 – Yankees 3 VS Cubs 10

The Team Essentials Yankees grabbed the early lead, manufacturing a run in the second before adding two more in the fourth through aggressive baserunning to build a comfortable advantage. The Team Essentials Cubs responded with a steady comeback, scoring in three consecutive innings before erupting for a huge five-run third highlighted by a three-run home run that completely shifted the momentum. The Team Essentials Cubs continued to chip away in the fourth while the Team Essentials Yankees were held in check late, allowing the Team Essentials Cubs to complete an impressive comeback and earn a 10-3 victory.

Game 4 – Tigers 11 VS Phillies 10

The Team Essentials Phillies jumped out to an early 6-1 lead with timely extra-base hits and aggressive baserunning, but the Team Essentials Tigers refused to back down. The Team Essentials Tigers chipped away with runs in the second and fourth before exploding in the fifth, taking advantage of walks, stolen bases, and clutch hits to erase the deficit and storm ahead. The Team Essentials Phillies answered with a three-run rally in the top of the fifth to briefly regain the lead, but the Team Essentials Tigers responded with an even bigger comeback in the bottom half, scoring six runs to complete a thrilling 11-10 walk-off victory in one of the tournament's most exciting games.

Game 5 – Cubs 13 VS Blue Jays 10

The Team Essentials Cubs raced out to a 4-0 lead in the opening inning with aggressive baserunning and never stopped applying pressure, using timely hits and smart play on the bases to keep the Team Essentials Blue Jays chasing. The Team Essentials Blue Jays battled back with runs in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth, highlighted by an inside-the-park home run and several clutch hits that cut the deficit to just three runs. Despite the late push, the Team Essentials Cubs answered with another big offensive inning of their own and held strong defensively in the final frame, securing a hard-fought 13-10 victory in an entertaining, high-scoring contest.

Game 6 - Game 6 – Yankees 15 VS Tigers 13

The Team Essentials Yankees stormed out to an early 4-0 lead, but the Team Essentials Tigers answered immediately and turned the game into an offensive showdown. A three-run home run in the second sparked the Team Essentials Tigers, who kept the pressure on with aggressive baserunning, timely hitting, and a seven-run fourth inning to erase the deficit and seize control. The Team Essentials Yankees continued to battle back with clutch hits and manufactured runs, trimming the lead late, but the Team Essentials Tigers held on to secure an exciting 15-13 victory after a game filled with momentum swings and relentless offense.

Sunday was here and did not disappoint! 

Game 7 Blue Jays 15 VS Yankees 1

The Team Essentials Blue Jays exploded out of the gate, scoring five runs in the first inning before adding another five in the second and five more in the third to take complete control of the game. Aggressive baserunning, timely hitting, and a two-run home run powered the relentless offensive attack, while the Team Essentials Yankees managed to answer with a run in the first but were unable to keep pace. Despite collecting several baserunners throughout the game, the Team Essentials Yankees were held in check by the Team Essentials Blue Jays, who cruised to a dominant 15-1 victory.

Championship Game!

Game 8 Cubs 15 VS Blue Jays 12

Team Essentials Cubs held on against the Team Essentials Blue Jays in an action-packed championship matchup. The Cubs jumped out to an early lead with a strong first inning, but the Blue Jays quickly responded with a big offensive push to turn the game into a back-and-forth battle. Both teams showcased aggressive baserunning, timely hitting, and plenty of momentum swings throughout the game, with lead changes and clutch plays keeping the excitement high. Team Essentials Cubs built a strong advantage with key extra-base hits, including several triples and doubles, while the Blue Jays continued to battle and answer with runs of their own. In the end, the Cubs’ early offensive surge and ability to produce runs in key moments proved to be the difference as they held off a determined Blue Jays comeback to earn the 15-12 win
