In the first game, the Selects went to Sault Michigan to play the 15U Soo Sluggers. The Selects won 15-7. The Selects showed their pitching strength by pitching 7 different pitchers for one inning each. Freddy Slukynsky recorded the win, giving up 0 hits and 0 walks. Greg Beckerson closed the game with 3 consecutive strikeouts. At the plate, Dean McCaig lead the charge going 4 for 5 with 2 runs. Freddy Slukynsky scored 3 runs going 1 for 2 with 4 walks.
On Saturday the Selects travelled to Sudbury to play the Sudbury Shamrocks in a double header. In Game one, the Selects won 15-2 after 5 innings. Ethan Pawelek recorded the win going 2 innings, striking out 3 and giving up 0 runs. At the dish, Greg Beckerson went 3 for 3 with a walk and scored 4 runs while Dean McCaig went 4 for 4 scoring 3 runs. Treyton Guzzo and Ethan Pawelek drove in 3 runs each.
In game two of the double header, the Selects won 21-7 after 4 innings. Greg Beckerson got the win, pitching 3 innings with six strike outs. Gabe Marrelli went 1 for 1 with 3 walks and scored 4 runs, Gavin Bisaillon went 4 for 4 with 3 runs and 6 runs batted in, Ethan Pawelek went 2 for 2 with two walks and Greg Beckerson went 3 for 3 with a walk while scoring 4 times and batting 2 runs in.
The Select team will be playing exhibition games through the month of August until the Ontario Baseball Association Tournament
on August 29th Weekend in New Market.
