Alcohol Free Zone
Ontario law allows adults (19+) to bring and consume their own alcohol at certain outdoor community and cultural events, but only under specific conditions.
This new law does not mean people can drink alcohol anywhere they want in public.
For alcohol to be permitted at an event:
• The municipality must first pass a bylaw allowing it.
• The event must be officially approved by the municipality.
• Event organizers must obtain a special permit from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
• Alcohol can only be consumed within clearly designated and licensed event areas.
Amateur and recreational sporting events, including local league games and tournaments, are not eligible for these permits.
